Periodically, the international multi-disciplinary journal, Mutagenesis, composes a “Special Issue: Comet Assay” volume. Other Special Issues on the comet assay were published in 2008 and 2015. These reviews are an excellent collection of some of the best comet assay research being performed. The 2018 Special Issue covers the use of the comet assay in studies on environmental and occupational exposures, although there are also articles on technical aspects of the assay and the use of plant cells. In addition, the Commentary provides a brief overview of the comet assay to mark its 30th anniversary.
