Join Comet Assay IV users and other comet-assay-focussed scientists at The International Comet Assay Workshop (ICAW) 2019.
Historically, ICAWs have been held within Europe, but in 2019 this changes! ICAW 2019 will be in Pushchino (Moscow region), Russia. The organising committee hope that holding ICAW 2019 in Russia will give impetus to the development of this approach, not only in Russia, but throughout the world.
These workshops deal with practical and theoretical aspects of the comet assay and are aimed at both experienced and new users of this popular technique.
According to the online provisional programme, session topics will include:
- Nutrigenomics
- Non-communicable diseases
- The various application of the comet assay (e.g. DNA methylation, FISH, non-invasive samples, etc.)
- Ecotoxicology & Environmental biomonitoring
- Human Biomonitoring
- Nanotoxicology and genotoxicity testing
- Round table discussion on the comet assay in regulatory testing and OECD approval
- Open discussion session on "Tips, Tricks & Troubleshooting"
Currently, the abstract deadline is 1st March 2019 and you can find more information about abstract submission and travel bursaries on the conference website.
“The Workshop has always been rather informal. It began as a satellite to the 2nd International Conference on Environmental Mutagens in 1995. At that time, the Comet Assay community was small, and we mostly knew each other. Even now, following exponential growth in popularity of this assay, the workshop retains the feeling of an extended family, reunited every two years, with a healthy intake of new family members. We try to keep registration costs as low as possible to make it easier for less established researchers to attend, and as a matter of policy no-one has expenses refunded; there are no invited speakers.
